Our History:

Shekinah Tabernacle Ministries was conceived by the leading of the Holy Spirit May 5, 2003, as our founders Bishop Willie J. and Pastor Margaret A. Curry stood at the altar of Greater Community Missionary Baptist Church. Under the movement of the Holy Spirit, they revealed to their Spiritual mentor Dr. (Pastor) William Boone the vision God had implanted in their spirit.

The Ministry was organized and incorporated officially July 9, 2003 after being commissioned by the laying on of hands by Pastor Boone, on August 3, 2003. The first worship service was held August 10, 2003, with 19 people in attendance at the Ramada Inn’s, Bradley Conference Room.  The supernatural visitation of the Holy Spirit was a constant reminder to the word that God had birthed in our founders, “That Jesus is our healer, deliverer and has freed us from bondage.” Blessings poured upon the Ministry as we relocated to 956 Old Route 66 in St. Robert, MO after our first year Anniversary August 8, 2004.  The congregation increased in size to 34 members, and continued to grow according to the will of the Holy Spirit. The altar of God’s ministry remained intense, with prayer, praise and worship, combined with the spirit of liberation and reconciliation.

After a fruitful second year of giving and devoted community outreach, we were able to purchase 3.46 acres of land for the future home of STM. Shortly afterward, Pastor Willie J. Curry was consecrated to Bishop, August 5, 2005 under the Chief Prelate of Deliverance Assemblies International Affiliation, Bishop Jonathan Fowler. Co-Pastor Margaret A. Curry was consecrated to Pastor shortly after Bishop’s Consecration. During our second year anniversary August 14, 2005 we were empowered by the ministering of Pastor Lester Woods, founder of Urban Empowerment Ministries from Colombia, MO.  A true brother to the Bishop that released an anointed word that was significant as we prepared for the departure of our Bishop to Fort Hood with deployment to Iraq, “Don’t Worry About The Nay Sayers.” His words of encouragement continue to resonate in our hearts. On September18, 2005, Minister Marcella Nelson was consecrated to the office of Elder.

On October 2, 2005, Bishop Curry departed the ministry with a powerful spoken word, “Declare It, Decreed It and Proclaim It”…Pastor Margaret A. Curry petitioned that, “The House Will Remain In Order”…and IT DID! Pastor Margaret A. Curry yielded herself completely to the leading direction of the Holy Spirit. During this time the Ministry was able to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and toys for families throughout Pulaski County. The media ministry expanded and produced our first CDs and DVDs, which are free to all upon request. Pastor Margaret A. Curry was honored for her service in the community as one of the “Women Who Make a Difference.”

During our third year Anniversary on August 13, 2006, we were blessed by the support and ministering of Dr. (Pastor) William Boone of Greater Community Baptist Church, St. Robert, MO.  He empowered the ministry with a ground breaking word, “Continue to Write the Vision.”

October 15, 2006, while flying home from Iraq, Bishop Curry received a telephone call regarding the availability of our present location at 577 Old Route 66. On November 12, 2006, the ministry ordained Eric Cooper to the Office of Deacon. On December 13, 2006 we acquired the House of God. The ministry continued to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and toys for families in Pulaski County.  God’s favor once again showered upon Shekinah Tabernacle Ministries, as we were able to renovate the church in less than 45 days.

On January 13, 2007, we honored God as we consecrated this Church to Him for His Glory, LOOK AT GOD! Always willing to “give Honor to whom Honor is due,” Bishop and Pastor Curry honored three of the Spiritual Pioneers of Pulaski County Christian Community; Pastor Rachael Proctor, Dr. William Boone, and Dr. Clifton Rugs. Through their anointing, struggles and sound voices of faith they prepared the way with wisdom for many diverse ministries to go forward in God.

Through God we was able to provide financial support for Feed the Children, establish the Marcella Nelson, “Yes I Can,” educational incentive and scholarship, purchase a shuttle bus, broadcasted our first television outreach commercial, and upgrade the ministry website. On July 15, 2007, Bishop Curry was selected as a lifetime member of Metropolitan Who’s Who in Urban Ministry.

During our fourth year Anniversary on August 12, 2007, we were blessed by Elder James Williams from True Gospel Covenant Worship Center, St. Louis, MO.  Upon Bishop’s Curry retirement, he was honored by the Daily Guide with a front page newspaper article, “Pastor Drives Weekly from Texas.” The Springfield local television station KOLR 10 honored us with an interview regarding the Bishop’s ministry and service to the community. In October we hosted our first cutting edge Women of War Conference; On December 2, 2007, the ministry ordained Missionary Faye Kent to Minister.

The beginning of 2008 marked further blessings of God, the ministry paid off the bus, re-carpeted the sanctuary, replaced the entrance railing, renovated the nursery, paved the parking lot and fully restored the parsonage into several dynamic office spaces, conference room and classroom. The ministry ordained Shawn Casey to the Office of Deacon.  We established STM Bible Institution, to empower our ministers in training. This extraordinary ministry curriculum teaches them the principles of TEAM Kingdom (to be Trained, Equipped, Anointed and Motivated to Build the Kingdom of God). The ministry is a member of the following organizations: City of St. Robert Chamber of Commerce, the Community of Church St. Robert, Christians Equipping Christians for Outreach and Evangelism Explosion Fellowship.

In 2009, the ministry theme was 3G09 (God Focus, God Force and God Favor). Several great highlights of 2009 includes the following: the spiritual union and covering with Bishop Russell Freeman of United Cathedral Community Church of Columbia , Missouri;  the graduation and ordination of our first students from STM Bible Institution (Minister David and Latoya Stevens, Minister Veronica Warren); the ordination of Reginald Miniweather to the office of Deacon; our cutting edge 2009 Women of War Conference; the placing of our ministry billboard outside of  Fort Leonard, Wood front gate; the lunching of the ministry Kingdom Building Campaign;  purchased a new van for the transportation ministry; the upgrading of our website that enables us to minister to the global community of STM through media, giving, online calendar, hosting updated photos and bible study lessons.  The ministry performed two traditional wedding, two renewals of vowels ceremonies, four baby dedications, and 12 baptisms.

God favored our leaders to truly operate in his power of shift, increase, and stability as they continue to lead STM into its destiny with God’s directions and power of the by Holy Spirit.

The ministry continues to declare; decree; and proclaim that God is more than able to keep His promises and speak freshness into our lives.
